Job Description

POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR, FINANCIAL AID AFFAID-DIRC01
STATUS: Full time
DEPARTMENT: Financial Aid/Veterans
DIVISION: Student Development
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
UNION: Non-union
REPORTS TO: Dean, Enrollment Management
PLACEMENT: Administrative Grade 12
MINIMUM PAY RATE: $75,834 annually

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Financial Aid/Veterans is responsible for the management and administration of the student Financial Aid Office and its functions, including but not limited to accounting operations, budget preparation, preparation of federal, state and university reports, maintenance of federal fund budgetary controls and regulatory compliance, and the delivery of funds and services to students. The Director maintains compliance with all federal, state and university regulations governing student aid programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and implement plans and procedures pertaining to Financial Aid and Veterans in accordance with institutional policy, state statues, and federal regulations.
2. Direct and coordinate the delivery of student financial aid and the maintenance of student financial aid records.
3. Monitor all financial aid processes for awarding of Federal and State programs
4. Supervise the control and retention of accurate student records in accordance with federal and state laws.
5. Prepare and submit federal, state, and institutional annual reports and required audits.
6. Oversee all administrative functions of the Financial Aid Office by supervising, providing ongoing professional development opportunities, and evaluating all full- and part-time employees.
7. Prepare the department budget, administer the budget for Financial Aid/ Veterans Office and ensure that the annual student educational costs budgets are updated for various Financial Aid and Veterans servicing agencies.
8. Work with the Student Accounts and Payments/Fiscal Services to insure that aid is disbursed and reconciled.
9. Develop and direct financial aid strategies within the framework of federal and state regulations that are consistent with the enrollment management objectives of the College and by administering financial aid, scholarships and student employment programs that support student recruitment and retention.
10. Ensure that the Colleague financial aid module is used effectively and that technologically up-to-date processes and product enhancements are developed.
11. Oversee that financial aid information is developed, updated and presented through the use of brochures, college website, literature, and workshops directed towards students, parents and community groups.
12. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree.
2. Five (5) years of financial aid experience, including supervision; knowledge of issues confronting higher education institutions.
3. Must be computer literate and possess a vision for changes in and with technological advances.
4. Experience with Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), MAP net and Direct Lending.
5. Experience with Student System, such as Colleague, PeopleSoft, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s Degree in student services or related area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
2. Normal office physical demands.
3. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
4. Ability to travel in state and nationally.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.

If you would like to receive the ASR, FSR or MPP in booklet form, you may stop by the Campus Police Department located on Main Campus in G 1013 or call Campus Police at 815-280-2234. The website and booklet contain information regarding campus security and personal safety such as crime prevention and reporting, police law enforcement authority, disciplinary procedures and other related security policies. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.
This information is required by law and is made available by the Joliet Junior College Police Department.
