Internship Job Description
Fall/Spring 2017/2018

POSITION SUMMARY:
This internship would be under the direction of the Director of Student Activities with assistance from the Coordinator of Student Activities.
Depending on the university attended, college credit may be provided. This is a paid internship and will provide practical experience for a student interested in pursuing a career in student life with higher education.
The intern would work within the Office of Student Activities to develop a calendar of co-curricular activities for Main Campus as well as assist newly opened extended campuses in providing programming for credit seeking students.
The intern will have the opportunity to learn the overall management of a community college student life department from budget development to program development and assessment of programs and revision of services offered.
Essential Job Duties and Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the program development at extended campuses by scheduling programs and supervising them. This will require a driver’s license and ability to travel between campuses as needed to conduct programs.
2. Work with extended campuses to develop clubs who will meet at those respective campuses to enhance programs offered through the Office of Student Activities.
3. Be the liaison between the Office of Student Activities, City Center Campus and Romeoville Campuses regarding programming needs at the respective campuses.
4. Develop promotional materials for programs with assistance from OSA student workers.
5. Assist with other programs as time permits (could include New Student Orientation, club events and planning, wellness events and Student Government programs).
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Student in final two years of undergraduate program in related fields (higher education, Psychology, Sociology, Communications for example)
2. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
3. Strong computer skills with publication software experience
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Ability to work independently and organized
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to travel between campus locations
2. Normal office physical demands
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Duties are performed indoors but outdoor activities could occur as well
2. Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate activities that do not occur within the regular work day (nights and weekends may be requested).
